The Inner Life
THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | JULY 1933
the beginning of the period spoken of in ancient prophecies as “That Day.” A day when each highly attuned individual can receive the Word of God direct—the promised era when mortal man shall realize the controlling influence of a higher power, one which constantly leads him aright in a physical, moral and social way.
This high estate was until recently thought to be accessible only to those who had passed out of the material body. The popular idea which seemed to prevail, was that by humbly submitting themselves to the established order each might enter Heaven and know all things immediately after death. With this generation, however, due to a better understanding of things universal, such primitive reasoning appears absurd.
Heaven, according to present teaching, is a state of being and not necessarily a certain location in space. It can therefore be attained at such time as the individual through experience and instruction acquires the proper refinement and understanding to be granted this intimate association with the Universal Brotherhood.
That this can be reached in any state of being and regardless of the particular vessel which the individual may occupy, is the most emphatic teaching of all revelation and is especially that of the New Testament. This can most easily be accomplished if we will only follow the instructions laid down at the beginning of the first apostolic age. This era began in actuality upon the day of Pentecost, at which time occurred the first public demonstration of the direct transmission of great psychic currents from the Holy Spirit. Each individual composing the earthly group (Church) received evidence of its presence and began at once to demonstrate this “gift.”
