The Inner Life

THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | NOVEMBER 1935

There are two or three other teachers whose writings have been the channels of bringing me up to the point where I could be able to receive the message of THE WAY OUT, and I am blessing all channels; but your message, THE WAY OUT, has been the clearest and most concise I have ever read.

It would take too long to give you all the details of the way spirit led me to find my good, but let me say, I have found just what you said I would—the straight way to the Kingdom, where all my good has been waiting for me. —A Grateful Student.

THE CYPRESS TREE

Margaret Kern

I FELL asleep beneath the Cypress Tree;
Its shadow held me in a dream,
And Naught could waken me . . .
I was All in all,
I was the very earth,
The lonely, the uncared-for,
And those bereft of mirth;
The homeless, the uncaring,
The greedy, the unsharing,
The sinner and the saint,
All, all of these was I,
Corrupt with selfish taint.

Through eyes of pain I saw afar
The glory of a flaming star
Shine through the riven mist.
From out the Temple silence
There came the Voice of One
To bid me seek the Kingdom,
The Kingdom of the Son—
To wake me from the dream . . .

Never again, aye, nevermore
Can Cypress Tree
Overshadow me.
