THE DESTINY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

A World Drama

By Amy Titus Howe

THIS story is entirely symbolical and allegorical, with only geographical points used on which to place the events and characters of Life.

In the great events of Life on this mundane sphere of Earth, there is always a nation or an individual who steps from behind the mystic veil, predestined and appointed to guide the destiny of certain peoples. Higher Powers possess the keys to all solutions of serious problems, whether they be injustice or persecution in any form.

In the spiritual and dramatic action of world forces, the United States of America was born, and she accepted her duty to God and man.

The God of Destiny explained to the new Nation her obligations, the fulfillment of which would guide the moral and material interests of her people through her future life.

As the United States and the God of Destiny stood on the shores of the Atlantic, in the City of New York, they sighted a White Ship slowly entering New York harbor. The Goddess of Love was at the helm acting as pilot, and the ship was about to touch the shores of the new country. The Goddess of Liberty, enchanted at the arrival of this significant “White Ship,” turned on the lights of Civilization and Freedom. As the United States witnessed the awe-inspiring scene, she dispatched two air ships, the American Eagle and the Dove of Peace, to aid the safe anchoring of the ship, which was bringing all races and nations of the earth into this new country—America—which stands for Freedom. As the nations debarked, Columbia, the child of America, sings:

“We welcome, we welcome, to our Happy Land;
For Freedom, for Loyalty, alone we stand.
We welcome, we welcome, and loving Freedom sing:
For Honor, for Liberty, our voices ever ring.”
