The Inner Life

looked pleadingly into my eyes. Then she went back and laid down, but never took her eyes off of me.
After completing the lesson I got up and went to pet her and commanded all the illusions of my mind to disappear and for it to know the Truth. Then I saw the functioning of the whole soul and body of that dog. I became the overshadowing soul, directing it into perfect functioning again. I spoke in the name of Jesus Christ.
Five minutes afterward she got up, went to a can of dog food and ate it all, and has been all right ever since.

WHOLENESS of Being is to be unconscious of any opposite, so that a Whole Being would only Know Itself, See Itself, and Hear Itself.
It is towards this consciousness that I work. There was a woman writer who used to write a column in a daily newspaper. She was of a critical mind, and her articles annoyed me so terribly that I used to read them for the sheer pleasure of the annoyance she caused me.
One day I knew this kind of thing had to stop, so I cultivated a feeling of kindness and love and patience towards her, and resolutely shut away other thoughts. In less than two weeks, one of her daily articles started out with these words: “It has lately been BORN IN upon me that I must cultivate the spirit of patience.”
Then I knew the meaning of Omnipresence.
I can stand in front of a sour sales-lady, as so powerfully remind her of her own inward self, that she will be relieved and smiling, and yet there is nothing in my outward appearance that causes such a change. One of my friends had a drunken husband, so I poured God’s Love into his atmosphere, and now he is a different man. He did not know anyone was trying to help him, nor did his wife, but I heard of the splendid result in a round-about way. There are other things, of course, because I work all the time.
