thereby can free yourself from anything that may be hindering, hampering you or causing you discomfort, pain or suffering in the outer world.

But after awhile you will not allow yourself to “descend” at all into such inharmonious conditions, but you will remain in and work from your soul consciousness, thereby being “in the world but not of it.”

Can you see that you must come to this, more or less, before you can do effective inner work, and that the more you can learn to abide in this consciousness the more effective will be your work?

Likewise, can you see that when you are able to rise at will into your soul consciousness and to abide there, that nothing that happens in the outer can affect, disturb or hurt you?

Therefore, this then is the first power to acquire, and the most necessary one. So long as you are tied to your outer mind, you are subservient to it and to all of its claims of self. Only when you can free yourself from it, can you master it and its forces and can compel it to serve you and to become an efficient and perfect instrument.

The way has been plainly shown in THE WAY OUT and in the Mind articles, but you will have to do what is shown therein to accomplish the end sought. Everyone who is interested and who wishes to attain this power can attain it, and will attain it someday. But now is the accepted and needed time.

You will wonder that we have said nothing about the Christ Consciousness as being a part of this work you will be called upon to do. It is only because of our wish at this particular stage not to confuse you, and to impress upon you the importance of first learning to retire back into the soul consciousness. The difference between the soul and the Christ consciousness will be clearly illustrated all in good time. In the meantime let all your efforts in meditation and in practice be toward learning to enter and work from your soul consciousness.
