THE INNER ROOM

CONTAINING quotations from our replies to those writing us for help in their Spiritual problems.

Each day at 12 o’clock noon, we take the names of those asking for such help in the Silence of the Spirit, and “Speak the Word” for them. Many hundreds have testified to receiving the blessings of such ministry.

FEAR

WE NOTE your seeming bother with that “fear.” But dear friend, of what is it you are afraid—of your life, of getting sick, or what? Do you not know that it is not your life, nor is it your body that you are living in? It is God alone living there, and Who is all that you are. Then what have you to be afraid of? Think you He does not know how to express Himself in the best and most perfect way through you? Then get out of the way with your foolish fears and concern about it. Be sensible and place all in His loving care, and go about His business He has given you to do.

CHILDREN

YOU ASK why you feel as you do about your son-in-law marrying again and your having to leave his home and children. That is but the human part of you that suffers, because of what you have built in your mind and filled with your love and interest in your grandchildren. For remember, you and they are not what your human mind thinks. You have lived in many bodies and in many families, have been mother of many children back through the ages, and these souls are but drawn to you because of past loves and hates, and the ties that bind you to them are but the debts still to be paid. When you are lifted away from them, maybe it is because you have paid your debts to them. Therefore, all that matters is that you are doing faithfully and selflessly what is before you at this time, concerned only that you are pleasing your loving Father, leaving all else to Him. Can you not see this?

WHILE WORKING WITH YOUR HANDS

IN YOUR work at the factory, have you tried to keep your mind off of your body and upon the things of the Spirit? If you could do that you would find that you would not get tired, but would somehow be able to do much better work and without fatigue. You may say, how can you do your work well, if you do not keep your mind on it? We take it that your work is more or less mechanical, and that being so, does not your mind often wander to other things? Then direct it to things spiritual—to God, and if in no other way than trying to feel His Presence ever with you and to do your work solely to please Him, asking Him to enable you to do it perfectly, realizing that your strength and ability come only from Him. In this way, you will be surprised at the difference in your feeling at night, and also in your attitude to your work.
