IN THIS Department will be given interpretations of dreams and visions of those needing to know their inner meaning. We reserve for it only those of special interest and helpfulness.
WHY NERVOUSNESS?
I HAVE just accepted a new position at a good salary, it seems a very nice place to work and I am elated and happy about it—except for the terrible fear that I can hardly overcome that I may not be able to do the dictation work, which will constitute the main part of my duties. I have always had a dread of taking dictation, and while I like it very much and know how to take it and write it, in my excitement and nervousness I make a lot of blunders. It will mean a great deal to me to get that place, and I am coming to you for help.
Last night I dreamed that I was in readiness to make a journey. I had all my baggage with me, but I was so excited and flustered. There was a man with me, who seemed to belong with me. I did not see his face as he was looking the other way and talking with someone at the station window. I saw the train coming and at once ran out to it, afraid I would miss it. But the man seemed not at all concerned as if we had loads of time. Then I awoke.
Does it mean I should not take that position? Everyone encourages me to take it. I am happy about it too, except for the silly nervousness about the dictation. I wish so much to know the right thing to do.
We are glad to learn of your new position and to help in your seeming need. But dear friend, why be so fearful about your ability to do the work satisfactorily? Do you not realize that there will naturally hinder your best work? Why have you been studying these truths, if not to learn to keep out of your mind such destructive thoughts and feelings? And have you not yet learned to trust your Loving Father within Who is always eager to give of His Power, His Intelligence, His understanding in any need, if you will but turn to Him? For of yourself you are nothing and can do nothing—all comes from Him. Then why not trust Him, instead of cluttering your mind with such foolish fears?
If you only knew it, your dream was sent to show you this very thing. All the time you were so excited and flustered about going on that journey—this new work you are going to do, that man, your Higher Self, as a Loving Guide, was calmly waiting for the train, and would take it with you and take charge of everything—if you would let Him. But instead, you go through all that emotional disturbance and get all worked up, and for nothing.
Take your lesson from the calm, unconcernedness of that man and be like him, and then let Him take charge. You have nothing to lose by so doing, and everything to gain.
