In a similar manner will this accumulation of the refuse of men’s minds lie rotting and putrid in the far reaches of the Cosmic Mind, generating there a vast amount of life and energy, which some day, when called forth and utilized in the creation of a new planet in whose field of consciousness can be planted the seeds of a new humanity, will give birth to mighty and very wonderful possibilities.

A glimpse of these possibilities has been afforded you in the above thought pictures in order to encourage you to consider that our own earth at one time must have been such a dark compost-heap of the effluvium of the minds of a humanity existing in the far distant past on one of the planets belonging to our Solar System. Of course that was many world periods before the earth was born, and the time since is so great that millions or even billions of years would probably not compass it.

We ask you, however, to go back with us and try to trace the evolution of the humanity of that ancient planet, remembering that it is the consciousness of that humanity that interests us and whose evolution we will study. Of course we can do that only by a study of the consciousness of our own humanity, for as we have shown in the first chapter herein, there is only one Mind and one Consciousness, and that what is without in the outermost of that Consciousness is of the same nature as that of within in the innermost. That is the law of being, and you will find it used by philosophers from the beginning of time in recorded literature. That law as occultly stated is, “As above, so below. As without, so within.” It is also called the law of analogy, or the law of correspondence.
