The Inner Life

THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | AUGUST 1934

is the real you, the only you, the mind being but your instrument that you are teaching and training to serve you perfectly, by first uncovering to its understanding by means of books, outer teachers and life’s experience as much knowledge as you are able to give it; and secondly as fast as it is able to comprehend, by making it aware of you, so that it can turn always within to you and learn to receive direct from you confirmation, denial, warning or amplification of what comes to it from outer sources.

Thus it gradually learns “who you are, and what it is;” and in time “takes its proper place as your servant.” When its understanding of and its attitude toward you become perfect—or in other words, when it surrenders all thought of self and of separation from you—your work of training it is finished; and you are then ready and fully prepared to do the Father’s Work you came here to do. In fact, the necessity of your coming into human expression is fulfilled and you need no longer stay, after your work is completed; for you have lifted the consciousness of your human mind into your Christ Consciousness; there is no longer two seeming selves, there is only One—your Christ Self, Eternal and One with the Father.

We urge all who wish to follow with us in this study of the mind to ponder deeply on what has been stated in these two articles, staying with each thought in them until all of its inner meaning becomes clear; so that you can make your mind go within a thought until it reaches the realm of pure ideas where you are and where you can enable it to see through your “eyes” and know with your understanding all there is to know about the idea back of that thought.

If you persist in doing this or until your mind in a measure is able to concentrate on a thought and note the new ideas that unfold to it, you will be ready to follow and profit from what will be given in later articles. If you are not willing to do this, these articles and the great truths in them are not for you; neither are the powers available that will unfold to the determined and persistent ones.
