The Inner Life

THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | AUGUST 1935

draw them out about their inner life, and try to understand them. Many of such parents would be surprised to learn what is waiting to be uncovered in these dear little-understood souls.

TOMMY is eight years old, but his soul undoubtedly knows many wonderful things which he is already unfolding to his mind, as you will learn from what follows. He has a mother and father who are advanced truth students and who early recognized in him something beyond their full comprehension; for almost from babyhood he amazed them with a knowledge of subjects that the ordinary childish mind is incapable of understanding. Unlike other children, instead of asking many questions, he would astound his parents with some wise remark, and they would then question him, when he would patiently explain its meaning to them much as a parent would explain to a child.

For example, his mother just reported to us a most interesting conversation she had with him recently. He had remarked that a candle light had the same radiance or halo around it that Jesus had around His head. From there he went into the deepest questions and explanations in turn about the soul, its progress from one planetary experience to another, and expressed the idea that Saturn must be a purified planet because it has a halo, and that someday the earth would have such a ring around it, when all the people now on earth had been purified and had gone on to another planet. His mother suggested that other planets might then be different states of development, and he understood the idea perfectly. Where he got these ideas, his mother cannot conceive, as they have not discussed these subjects in his presence.

Perhaps where he gets them can be explained by the following incident, which his mother wrote us the last of March:

“In waking Tommy up the other night from a deep sleep, before he was fully conscious, he put his hand on my shoulder and said, ‘Jo (his mother’s name by which he usually addressed her), you are doing finely, much better than you think. You are right behind me now in school; so keep it up.’

“I asked him what school he meant, and he said, ‘Oh you know, the school we go to study science at night when our bodies are asleep.’ And then he came to his full consciousness and did not
