IN THIS Department will be included teachings and truths for more advanced students, especially for those who have received the monthly lessons in the sixty-five issued Papers.

Some of our readers perhaps may not be able to grasp these truths, but we urge if so that they reserve them for future study and consideration, as they will contain matter of vital moment to the soul, when it is grown ready to receive and use it as intended.

LAST month we spoke of an Inner Group gradually coming into evidence, forming itself out of the list of several hundred earnest ones who responded to a call for Inner Workers two years ago.

We indicated that the members of this Inner Group are not being chosen by us or by any other outer organization or individuals, but nevertheless they are showing definite evidence of being a part of such a Group.

But we do not refer to them as being a part of any of the Brotherhoods or Orders in the spiritual realms of being which many have contacted in their inner experiences. There are indeed such Brotherhoods and Orders, and every awakened soul sooner or later finds himself in one of such, according to his degree of spiritual unfoldment.

We speak of souls, however, not of human beings, for all but a few of such are totally unaware in their outer minds of any such connection. The fact is, their spiritual development is indicated by the nature of the Order or Brotherhood in which they find themselves at the time, and these Brotherhoods are the agencies used by the Sons of God for the preparing of souls for discipleship; even as the outer Orders, consisting of such organizations as the Churches, Christian Science, Spiritualism, Unity, New Thought, Theosophy, Rosicrucianism, etc., indicate the state of development of the outer man and are used in their respective degrees to prepare the mind for discipleship.

In all of these organizations the outer man is taught, trained and disciplined according to his capacity to receive and understand inner guidance, which in the first named or lower Orders is very limited, and increases in each succeeding Order in which he finds himself, such as when he “grows out” of the orthodox church, of Christian Science, of Spiritualism, etc., as one does in time—if not in this lifetime in a later one.

Remember, this occurs simultaneously in the inner and outer realms, in the inner the soul becomes a member of an inner Order or Brotherhood that is reflected in the outer by one of the Churches, Movements, Organizations, Isms, Cults or Fraternities into which the outer man is led and joins himself.

Of course many souls—the vast majority—have not grown to the stage where they respond to and are as yet susceptible to what is called spiritual guidance, but who are nevertheless inspired and directed by their Higher Selves in their mental and moral unfoldment, which is reflected in their outer lives by their tastes, inclinations and desires and their resulting activities, conditions and environments.

But this is just preliminary and to show you what this Inner Group is not, that it is different from and serves in a different way and from a different consciousness than that of the various Brotherhoods above mentioned; yet it is a consciousness that is largely responsible for the activities of that larger Group of Servers we have called herein Inner Workers, because the members of this Inner Group are pure channels through which the Light of the Christ Love continually pours and influences all they contact, and such are found among the Workers in this larger Group and often inspire much that they do.

As indicated last month the Impersonal Teachings are not for the many, but only for the few who came here to serve the Christ, and are to recall all such to the purpose of their being here at this time; that they came “to help usher in the New Age and to become conscious workers in it, serving under the direction of the Great Brotherhood of Christ in the guidance, development and upliftment of humanity.”

Therefore while there are many who at first recognize the purity of its teachings and are inwardly drawn to them, yet not having grown to the stage where they are making the finding of the Kingdom first—which means the serving of the Christ within first—in their lives, they are soon attracted elsewhere by alluring promises of quicker and easier attainment, because of their not being able to understand, or they are not willing to study and conscientiously apply, the deep inner truths with which the Impersonal Teachings are filled.

In these Teachings are shown most clearly the Way to the Kingdom. No one, no matter what previous studies have been made, cannot but agree with this; but it is also seen that the way shown is not for the faint-hearted nor is for those unwilling to do the studying and meditating necessary and to strive unceasingly to master every fault and weakness of the lower nature that stand in the way. The Impersonal Teachings are far from being just a course of lessons, as some think, but are part of a Work, a work of preparing as many human channels as possible for the Master’s use. And by the Master, we mean the Master within, even the Christ, the only Teacher and the only Authority for such.

Please note carefully this distinction, for in it lies the great difference between the Impersonal Work and all Movements looking to outer or other Masters and Teachers for guidance and instruction, no matter who are such, and not excepting the “Master Jesus,” whom some look upon as a Master like other Masters. It is such who are drawn into the various Schools, Brotherhoods or Orders in the inner realms and into various Occult Movements in the outer, and from which they will gain the intellectual understanding that will prepare them for the true Spiritual awakening that awaits.

Yes, we know that some who read will rebel and deny that they are not Spiritually awakened and are not receiving Spiritual instructions now in such Occult Movements. But such we urge to read carefully the “Jesus Christ” Message in this issue, and the first half of page 856 and all of the article “I, the Lord Self,” pages 858-60, in the June issue. It will give them a glimpse of what we mean.

This article is to impress upon all readers the importance of The Impersonal Work and the goal for its students. Many who read will recognize this importance and will gratefully accept every word as truth, and they will strive faithfully to make themselves worthy and well qualified, in order as quickly as possible to reach the goal—which is the Kingdom of Heaven, our Father’s and the Christ Consciousness.

In other words, we recognize all other Movements, Organizations, Churches, etc., and their teachings as necessary and helpful for those souls who are now in them, for they were led to them by their Higher Selves for the understanding that could be given only in such experience. But when that understanding is gained they are then open and able to receive the higher and fuller understanding their Higher Selves intend for them and that can be given only in the schooling received in the next organization into which they will be led. Of course all the understanding coming from these experiences is not necessarily gained from the actual teachings of the said movements, but often instead more is gained from what they fail to teach and practice and from the disillusionment that follows.

Every Movement and Organization is inspired by Those Who are in charge of the unfoldment and development of man’s understanding of the true meaning of human expression. That cannot be fully gained until man’s mind becomes aware of his own Divine Self as the One Teacher and Authority, and then surrenders his consciousness and will to that Self. With such awareness and surrender there takes place a transference of the center of consciousness from the mind to the soul, or the return of the Prodigal to the Father’s Home. This return is fully taught and its accomplishment is the chief aim of The Impersonal Work for every student who will stay with the Teachings until the goal is reached.

As the illumined one in the June issue states, “Only those who are of the First Born stay with the Sun Teachings until they are prepared for the Heavenly Honor of possessing a Medallion which admits them into the Order of the First Born—the ELECT.” And it is those alone who reach their Heavenly Home in the New Jerusalem, and who are the ones of that Inner Group who, one by one, are making themselves known to us and to their Brothers who belong in and are preparing their outer minds to become conscious members of the Church of the First Born.

MY Beloved Brother,

This is to be a very different letter from the last one, where Ruby came begging for more help, when for four years You have poured out an ocean of Love and Teaching! How ashamed of her I was, for that, and for letting You see her so! It seems that she needed just this mortification to make her try harder to be worthy of the Glory that is, and is to be.

I have told her that she cannot lean on You any longer—she now must use what she has (and how much that is!) and must follow Me (Who am One with You anyway), and by her own efforts must earn the Reward. I keep her almost constantly in My consciousness now, and twice she has been privileged to see Me, even though dimly—since the last letter.

Once she stood by a window wondering about an old dream of the torrent, and over it the Star which fell and turned into a Man in White carrying a Child. And just recently she saw Him again, and coming toward her across the water, alone. He came close to her left side and answered her thought, “Where is the Babe?” with, “The Babe was you.” And then He came nearer and nearer, as He had done before, and then he merged into her and there was but One.

One night she entered the Inner Room—all purple and gold and white. She thinks that lovely Place must have something to do with the High Priest and the Gold and White Altar. And she will know it some day. She does know what the Sun Center is, and there in the very Heart of God is the Order of Melchizedek and the High Priest and the Wonderful Ones. And she dares to know that she is a potential Member of that ORDER—knows and rejoices, and is so unspeakably thankful—so full of Joy she has no words to tell it!

Well—as she entered the Room and saw her Angels still kneeling there, and looked to see Christ Jesus as usual, even tho she knew He was within and surrounding herself, she saw she was again the Beloved, and as she waited, she grew and grew and grew until within her was the whole Universe. Now I have told her of this truth so many times—will she grasp it this time and hold on to it?

She has promised Me that she will be unafraid to claim her Inheritance—to know at all times she is only I, and that the words she has spoken and loved so many, many times are every one true. And she is praying night and day to be able to stay here within with Me—for she cares for nothing else in all the world but Me, and to please Me. When self is entirely out of the way, and she tosses it aside as a worn-out garment, and makes diamond dust of all her cells, then——!

My Love goes before her everywhere—everything is made so easy, and she says and does surprising things—for I make her do it. Yes, many times have I used her, and she loves to do My work, and asks nothing else, but the ability to do it well.

HAVE you prepared your Book of Life, dear one? Is it finished? There is little time left now for its completion.

Of course many have been preparing their Book these many years, for each of the Elect have a Book which he or she will carry when going into the presence of the Priest of the MOST HIGH.

The Monitor within will permit me to tell but very little about the Book. He wishes each one to have the supreme joy of its discovery . . . But I can say that it is bright and round like the Sun, and the pages are of living, breathing beings.

In my own Book are many wonderful pages—each complete in its individual perfection. Every little while I add another page, and last month was added a GODDESS! Oh, She is so dazzling that I must hide my eyes.

On one page is a NUN—a Sister of Mercy. She continually prays for the world. On another page a Lord looks out at me, and He speaks the Words of Jesus. On another page is the Great Angel—the Initiator;

Then there is GOD!

To behold Him is agony indeed. But I venture it a few seconds. I can see only a small part of Him, the Light is so blinding. Down near the feet is a part something like human. And far out around Him the Light is Golden.

Now on the last page that I am adding to my Book is a lonely, forsaken little girl—she is unconscious and dying, and I love her, O so dearly. I could not love her much before she became unconscious, for she would have mis-used My love for self-pity. But now I love her and make her dying easy—then she will be no more. And where she stood a Princess will take her Place in The Sun.

Each kind and good thought is material and some time they will be gathered into a wonderful vision outmanifest, just as your Soul wishes you to see it.

Oh, is not your Father good to give you the power and freedom to create without limit or hindrance? And when your Book is finished, you can lay it upon the White and Gold Altar, and you can take YOUR PLACE IN THE SUN.

EACH time I meditate on the Soul there comes back to memory an experience I had many years ago and which I think is a wonderful illustration of what is the Soul.

At that time I had been very ill and my recovery was very slow, and so we moved to a nearby hillside town in the hope that life in the open would restore my health. It was here that I met my first Spiritual Teacher, I had never heard of metaphysics and did not know what Truth meant, but the instruction she gave me fell like “drenching rains on parched ground.”

One evening I felt very ill I was all alone in the house; the tortures of mind and body and the loneliness were such that I thought I could bear it no longer. I prayed fervently, asking the Father for help, and wished the Teacher would come and pray with me as she had done before. A deep prayer it must have been—for after awhile the door opened and in came the Teacher. And this is the story:

She had left home to spend the evening with a friend; on her way home she came to a part of the road that was thickly wooded, and there in the darkness under the trees stood a beautiful Being clothed in flowing white robes. Drawing closer, she saw it was I—looking at her with pensive eyes. She understood the message, and came to see me.

And so my Inner Self, my Soul, had gone forth to summon the help I needed.

Here is something else. On March 24th, after midnight, I was awakened out of a deep sleep. There was music in the air, music of indescribable beauty—like thousands of church bells ringing out into the Universe, an immense symphony of Joy and Peace. I felt distinctly it was Easter music out of the Celestial festivities of the Great White Hosts. It was a glimpse of Heaven.

IT MIGHT interest you to know of an experience I had in trying to heal myself. I ate a certain food, and while eating it I suppose I had some fear, as I thought of once before that kind of food had made me sick; but I thought this time it would not hurt me. Nevertheless, about three hours later I began to suffer intense pain in my stomach. The pain kept growing more and more severe.

I tried to call forth the power from within which I thought would relieve the pain, but it had no effect this time. Then I tried taking my mind off of it and thinking of something else; but there seemed nothing else to think about. The pain was so great that perspiration broke out over the entire body. I thought if I could get up strength enough to vomit I would get relief, but almost never have I been able to vomit, as the muscles of my stomach never seemed strong enough for that.

The pain was something terrible by this time. Then I thought, this is the way so many people pass out with Indigestion. I then let go and said, “Father, you take care of it.” After saying that somehow I became perfectly calm and had no more fear. My next thought was to ask help from the Brothers in Spirit, which I did by mentally asking Them to come near and give me of Their strength.

Immediately I was able to vomit easily and freely, emptying the stomach entirely. In a few moments I was perfectly well again, and never felt any after-effects from it.

I was very grateful for this experience, as it convinced me that They are always near and ready to help in time of need. It seemed that I had first to turn my attention to Them and ask for the help needed. “Ask and ye shall receive.”
